Railway Station Redevelopment: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of 508 railway stations

Indian Railways has started redevelopment of stations to improve the quality of the stations.  Under this scheme, PM Modi today laid the foundation stone of 508 railway stations through video conferencing.  These stations will be connected with world class facilities and will also enhance the infrastructure, culture and other aspects of the country.  The railway stations to be redeveloped include 99 in Assam, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
Indian Railways Stations With railway stations spread across 27 States and Union Territories, this monumental project is the largest groundbreaking ceremony ever undertaken.  These stations will be converted into city centers connecting both sides of the city for better connectivity.  This will promote the entire urban development around the railway stations.
Under the Amrit Bharat scheme, out of 508 railway stations, most of them will be renovated in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.  55 stations will be renovated in each of these.  49 stations in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra and 37 in West Bengal will be renovated.  Besides, the railway stations in Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Punjab, Gujarat, Telangana, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Karnataka will also be redesigned.
