The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is scheduled to conduct the third orbit maneuver of Chandrayaan-3 between 2 pm and 3 pm today. That is, the orbit is going to change. Now, in all Earth Bound Orbit maneuvers, only the apogee will be changed. That means more distance from the Earth's surface. The aim is to reach Chandrayaan-3 to a distance of 100,000 km by July31 .
After the third orbit maneuver, the apogee will also change in the fourth or fifth Earth bound maneuver. Currently, Chandrayaan-3 is orbiting in an elliptical orbit with a perigee of 226 km and an apogee of 41,604 km. The orbit maneuvering will extend the distance to 41,604 km.
