Tezpur University and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune have joined hands in a significant research collaboration. They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to assess the net ecosystem exchange of carbon dioxide in the renowned Kaziranga National Park.
The MoU was signed in a virtual ceremony on Saturday in the presence of Union Minister of Earth Sciences, Kiren Rijiju, and the department secretary, Dr M Ravichandran. This collaboration marks a significant step towards understanding the carbon dynamics of the ecosystem in Kaziranga.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Nirmali Gogoi, the coordinator of the project, along with the Director of IITM Pune, Dr R Krishnan, and the Registrar of Tezpur University, Dr Biren Das.
