Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has died at the age of  He had been ill for a long time and was admitted to a hospital in Milan on June 10.  Sources close to him have confirmed his death.  Berlusconi had been suffering from leukemia for some time.  He recently had a lung infection.  Berlusconi was Italy's richest leader and was the country's media tycoon before entering politics.
Berlusconi was prime minister of Italy three times.  He first became the country's PM in 1994.  Balusconi, the leader of the Forza Italia party, was due to hold a major party meeting with Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni in the coming days.  He was not active in government but he was of considerable stature.  It is believed that Italian politics could be unstable after his death.  Berlusconi was hospitalized in April with breathing problems.  The hospital had then said that the politician's cancer was not spreading and he would recover in no time.
