The Assam Cabinet has decided to amend the Assam ESI Doctors' Service Rules,2000.
It was decided to amend the 23-year-old rule to streamline the functioning of the Employees’ State Insurance Doctors Service in Assam.
One of the crucial proposals put forward in the amendment aims to reduce the minimum service period required for the promotion of Superintendent or its equivalent post to the position of Administrative Medical Officer (AMO).
The existing requirement of five years of service will be revised to a more attainable two years.
The proposed amendment comes in the wake of a predicament faced by the office of ESIS, Assam, where all previous Superintendent.
