China has not backed a UN resolution condemning Russia in response to a military coup in Ukraine.  This time, the Xi Jinping government directly opposed the move to expel Russia from the G20.

On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbeim announced his support for Moscow at the diplomatic level, saying "the G20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation."  Russia is one of its important members.  No member has the right to expel another member. "

The United States and its Western allies have been imposing a series of economic sanctions on Moscow since Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine.  The push to expel Russia from the G20 has also begun, with the aim of pushing Russia's economy even further.
On Tuesday, US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan said in a statement that "the United States and its allies have begun discussions on whether Russia should be included in the G20."
