Former Assam IGP Nawab Imdad Hussain dies at 71

Nawab Imdad Hussain (IPS), ex Inspector General (IGP) of Assam Police, breathed his last on Friday in Guwahati, aged 71 years.

He leaves behind an illustrious legacy of dedicated police service in Assam. He was awarded the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2010, amongst other awards and accolades.

Hussain completed his college education from St Edmunds, Shillong; JB College, Jorhat and Dibrugarh University in Assam. After serving in various capacities with the Assam Police, he retired as Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Assam.

His last rites were performed today with full police honours in Guwahati. He is survived by his wife and two grown children.
