Assam and Meghalaya governments have targetted to end the decades-long inter-state border disputes by December 30, 2021.The two chief ministers addressed the media after visiting the inter-state border at Langpih.
Assam chief minister Dr.Himanta Bisw Sarma said there are a total of 12 dispute areas in the Assam-Meghalaya border.He said both the neighbouring states have taken steps to solve the border disputes in six areas in the first phase.
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma said the border disputes will be solved through mutual understanding.
He sought cooperation from the people in solving the problem. Sangma also tweeted: “Hon’ble CM of Assam @himantabiswa Ji & I are on our way to conduct a joint inspection of Langpih, one of the villages along the Meghalaya-Assam border. We look forward to a fruitful day of dialogue as we work towards resolving our long-pending border issue.”
