RuPay card payments have been introduced in the Maldives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu witnessed the first such transaction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that RuPay card was launched in Maldives a few days ago. In the coming time, India and Maldives will be connected through UPI.
The two also inaugurated the runway of Hanimadhu International Airport in the Maldives through virtual means. India also handed over more than 700 social housing units built with its assistance to the Maldives. With this, several important agreements were signed between India and the Maldives. All the decisions, including the foundation stone laying and inauguration, were taken after a meeting between PM Modi and Moizju at the Hyderabad House.
