Himachal Pradesh's Sukkhu government passed a bill to raise the minimum age of marriage to 21 years

In Himachal Pradesh, the age of marriage for daughters will now be 21 years instead of 18 years.  The government introduced the Himachal Pradesh Child Marriage Prohibition Bill-2024 in the monsoon session of the Assembly, which was passed unanimously without discussion.  The bill will now be sent to the Governor for approval.  So far, the marriage age of girls in the state is 18 years.
Health, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dhaniram Shandil introduced the Prohibition of Child Marriage (Himachal Pradesh Amendment Bill, 2024).  The minimum age of marriage for girls in the state is currently 18 years.  The state government is extending it by three years.  Its revised draft was approved by the state cabinet seven months ago.
