Maharashtra's Eknath Shinde government has announced the implementation of the Unified Pension Scheme

Within 24 hours of the Union Cabinet approving the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), the Cabinet meeting in Maharashtra has also approved the scheme.  With the decision of the Shinde government, the path is now cleared for the implementation of UPS instead of New Pension Scheme (NPS) in the state.
 The Union Cabinet meeting on Saturday made several important announcements.  The biggest of these was the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).  There are several big announcements in the scheme for government employees.  The biggest feature of UPS is that like the old pension scheme (OPS), government employees will get 50 per cent of the average basic salary after retirement.
