Musicians Uttam Singh and KS Chitra will receive the Lata Mangeshkar Award

Renowned musician Uttam Singh and playback singer KS Chitra will be awarded this year's Lata Mangeshkar Samman Alankaran.  The two dignitaries will be conferred the national award by the Madhya Pradesh government at a function in Indore on September 28.  The State Department of Culture awards the prize every year on Mangeshkar's birth anniversary.

 Uttam Singh will be awarded the Mangeshkar Award for 2022 while Chitra will be awarded the 2023 award, said Jayant Bhise, director, Ustad Alauddin Khan Academy of Music and Arts.  For the first time, the award ceremony will be held in the auditorium built by the state government in Mangeshkar's memory.
