Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian team.  BCCI Secretary Jai Shah made the announcement on social media.  Gambhir will now replace Rahul Dravid.  Rahul Dravid's tenure ended after the 2024 Twenty20 World Cup.  As such, the board was looking for a new coach.  Interviews had already been held for this post.

 Jai Shah made the announcement
"I am delighted to welcome Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team. Modern cricket has evolved rapidly and Gautam has watched these changing times closely," Jai Shah wrote on X.  After facing difficulties throughout his career and performing brilliantly in various roles, I believe Gautam is a perfect person to take Indian cricket forward.
