Businesswoman Halla Tomsdóttir has won the Icelandic presidential election.  She has been elected Iceland's second female president after Vigdis Finnbogadatir.  She will replace President Guni Johansson and assume her duties on August 1st.  Halla Tomsdottir has won 34.3 percent of the vote overall.
Former Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jacobsdóttir was the dominant candidate in the presidential election ahead of Tomsdóttir.  Tomsdottir first rose to prominence during the financial crisis, when she was honored as co-founder of Adur Capital.  It was one of the few investment firms in Iceland that survived through the economic turmoil.
