Shabana Azmi: Shabana Azmi receives 'Freedom of the City of London' award

Renowned actress Shabana Azmi has been awarded the 'Freedom of the City of London' award for her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema and her promotion of women's rights.  The actress was in London to celebrate her 50 years in cinema at the annual UK Asian Film Festival (UKAFF).  She received the honor at a function during the function.  This award is given for outstanding contribution in life.
Shabana Azmi has won five National Awards and six Filmfare Awards for Best Actress.  She said after receiving the honor in London: “I feel extremely honored to receive the Freedom of the City of London award.  It is a testament to the power of cinema and activism that we are able to transcend borders and have a meaningful impact on society.I am grateful for this recognition and am committed to always using my voice and platform to advocate for positive change."
