Lawrence Wong becomes Singapore's new prime minister

Economist Lawrence Wong was sworn in as Singapore's fourth prime minister.  Wong, 51, will replace 72-year-old Lee Sean Loong.  Wong was sworn in by 67-year-old President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.  Lee Sean Loong served as Singapore’s Prime Minister for 2 decades.  Wong and Lee Sean Loong are both leaders of the ruling People's Action Party who has been leading Singapore for more than the last 5 decades.
Before taking over as prime minister, Wong was the country's deputy prime minister.  But now he will lead the government as PM and Finance Minister.  Wong had cited various setbacks for not making major changes at the ministerial level.
