Salima Tete: who is Salima Tete who became the new captain of the hockey team

Salima Tete has been named captain of the Indian women's hockey team.  Salima Tete has reached this stage after a lot of struggle. Salima Tete is from Badki Chapar, a small village in Simdega district of Jharkhand.  Her mother has been the cook and even washed the dishes in others' homes.
In the 2023 Tokyo Olympics when the Indian women's hockey team was playing in the quarter-finals.  Her family lived in a raw house in the village until recently.  Her father Sulakshan Tete also played hockey at the local level.
Salima's journey at the international level began in 2016, when she was selected for the junior Indian women's team.  She then represented the country in several international hockey competitions including the Tokyo Olympics, World Cup and Commonwealth Games.
Her performance at the Tokyo Olympics was also praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  Last year, the Asian Hockey Federation appointed Indian women's hockey player Salima Tete as its athletic ambassador for the next two years.  She was also awarded Asia's 'Emerging Player of the Year' by the Federation.
