Today is the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri. It is also called Mahanavami or Rama Navami. On Mahanavami, every household worships Mata Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Maa Durga. On Mahanavami, after Kanya Pujan, Navratri Vrat is observed and thus the goddess is bid farewell.
It is believed that Lord Rama was born on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri. Hence it is also called Rama Navami. Lord Rama was born in the mid-afternoon in the constellation Karka Lagna and Punarvasu. Therefore, on Rama Navami, one should worship Lord Rama in the middle of the afternoon.
