Shefali Sharan took over as Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau

Shefali B. Sharan has assumed charge as Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau on the retirement of Manish Desai . Sharan is a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Information Service.
During her illustrious career spanning over three decades, she has handled cadre departments looking after mass media publicity work as Press Information Bureau Officer for ministries such as Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. She has also served as Spokesperson of Election Commission of India.
Besides, she has served on Central Staffing Scheme deputation as Director in Ministry of Health (Department of Traditional Systems of Medicine/Department of AYUSH (2002-2007)) and Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs 2013-2017) apart from working on cadre posts.  OSD (Information Policy in Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, 2000-2002) and also as Director Administration & Finance in LSTV, Lok Sabha Secretariat in 2007-2008.
