Assam's Guwahati ranks second among the most polluted cities in the world

Guwahati city in the northeastern state of Assam has reached the second position in the list of the world's most polluted cities, according to IQAir's 2023 World Air Quality Report.
 Pollution levels in Guwahati city have increased due to various factors, especially increase in dust pollution due to increase in construction activities and increase in vehicular traffic.
 Guwahati, Assam recorded an average annual PM2.5 concentration of 105.4, more than ten times the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended level.
