Assam Police Director General GP Singh on Thursday said an investigation has been launched into the accident with a minister's convoy.
The DGP posted on social media that a case (No. 198/24) has been registered at the Dispur police station.
The driver of the vehicle (a Mahindra Bolero) is being investigated for legal action, he said.
He added that the vehicle involved in the accident has been impounded for further investigation and the process under the Traffic Act has been expedited.
However, the top police officer did not comment on the minister's convoy when announcing the investigation.
A 30-year-old man was killed and another injured when his convoy collided with Water Resources Minister Piyush Hazarika on Sunday.
The incident took place in the Khanapara area of Guwahati on Sunday night.
