Seahawk helicopter joins Indian Navy

Seahawk helicopters are commonly called MH-60R.  In 2020, the US had a deal for 24 such helicopters.  The squadron of these helicopters will be known as INAS-334.  It is the marine version of America's Black Hawk helicopters.  It was commissioned at INS Garuda in Kochi.  Navy Chief Admiral R.K.  Hari Kumar was present.
 The helicopter will boost the naval strength of the Indian Navy.  The deployment of Seahawks in the Indian Pacific region will strengthen the maritime presence of the Indian Navy.  The R of this helicopter stands for Romeo.  By 2025, the Navy will have 24 Romeo helicopters.
 Seahawks helicopters are designed for anti-submarine warfare, surface conflict, search and rescue, medical and evacuation and vertical replenishment.  It will be deployed on the Indian Navy's indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.  It can also be operated from frigates, corvettes or destroyers.  Romeo is produced by the American company Skorsky.  There are a total of 5 variants of Romeo.
