75 year old woman gets graduation and 72 year old man gets PG degree, prisoners also get certificates

Degree to Senior Citizens: Over 10,000 learners, ranging from people above 70 years of age to jail inmates, received their degrees, diplomas and PhDs at the convocation ceremony of Krishnakant Handik State Open University (KKHSOU) in Guwahati.
A total of 10,880 degrees, diplomas and certificates were awarded at the university's sixth convocation ceremony, which was attended by Assam Governor and Chancellor Gulab Chand Kataria and Haryana Central University Vice-Chancellor Professor Sushma Yadav, an official statement said. A total of 10,880 degrees, diplomas and certificates, including 13 PhDs, were awarded to the learners.
The statement said that 49 percent of the degree recipients were female learners, and 28 people were awarded gold medals for outstanding performance in their studies. The two eldest people to receive degrees are Chandra Prabha Mahant, a 75-year-old woman, who received a graduation degree, and Mahendra Bhuyan, 72, who received a post-graduation degree.
