An ancient idol of Lord Vishnu has been found in the Krishna river in a village in Raichur district of Karnataka.  It is said to be about a thousand years old.  The special thing is that the idol is exactly similar to the newly built idol of Ramlala.  According to archaeologists, this statue could be from the 11th or 12th century.  Not only this, along with this idol of Lord Vishnu, an ancient Shivalinga has also been found.
Experts believe that this idol might have been a part of the sanctum sanctorum of a temple.  It may have been thrown into the river to protect the temple from vandalism.  The nose of this idol is slightly damaged.
