'This is murder of democracy...', CJI gets angry at the returning officer while hearing the Chandigarh Mayor election case

A hearing was held today in the Supreme Court regarding the Chandigarh Mayor election.  Three judges led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud heard the case.  The Chief Justice also watched the video of the Presiding Office in which he is allegedly canceling the votes.  CJI said that this is a mockery of democracy.  We are just shocked by what happened.  CJI said that we cannot allow the murder of democracy like this.  CJI has asked to present the complete video of the elections and has also issued a notice.
 The Supreme Court has issued notice on the petition of Kuldeep Kumar challenging the Chandigarh Mayor election.  Let us tell you that the complete record will be kept with the Registrar of Punjab and Haryana High Court till 5 pm along with all the documents and all the video proofs.  The Supreme Court has ordered to postpone indefinitely the first meeting of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation scheduled to be held on February 7.  For example, the work of the new mayor of the Municipal Corporation will be put on hold for the time being.
