Sanjay Singh had won the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections, who has been a close associate of former president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. After Sanjay Singh becoming the president, many wrestlers including Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat are angry. These wrestlers have been protesting against Brij Bhushan for a long time. All of them demanded that a woman should be on the post of President of the Wrestling Federation of India.
After Sanjay Singh became the president, Sakshi Malik had announced her retirement on Thursday (21 December). Now a day later, wrestler Bajrang Punia has also taken a big step. Bajrang Punia has decided to return his Padmashree award. Bajrang has given this information by posting on social media. Poonia also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Poonia has also shared this letter on X. Bajrang Punia wrote in the caption of the post, 'I am returning my Padma Shri award to the Prime Minister. This is just my letter to say. This is my statement.'
