Supreme Court disposed of more than 50 thousand cases this year

The Supreme Court has disposed of 52,191 cases so far this year.  This is 3,000 more than the 49,191 cases registered in the Supreme Court this year.  This has come to light from the data released by SC. 
This year, the Supreme Court also gave decisions and resolved many important and pending cases for years.  These also include the decision on petitions challenging the government's decision to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.  The Constitutional Bench had considered the Centre's decision to remove Article 370 as valid.  Apart from this, SC had also refused to recognize gay marriages.  The apex court had ruled that the Delhi government will have legislative and executive power over services in the national capital.
 "In another achievement, the Supreme Court of India has been able to dispose of 52191 cases from January 1, 2023 to December 15, 2023, which includes 45,642 miscellaneous cases and about 6,549 regular cases," the statement issued by the Supreme Court said.  Are included.  In the year 2023, a total of 49191 cases reached the Supreme Court, while 52191 cases were disposed of.  This shows that this year the Supreme Court was able to dispose of more cases than those registered.
 Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has streamlined the time limit required for filing the list of cases, hence the time for filing the case has been reduced from 10 days to seven to five days.
 SC issued a statement saying, during his tenure, there has been a change in the time from filing to listing of cases, where the time taken from listing to filing was 10 days, now it has come down to 5 to 7 days.  The top court said that a bench of five judges and seven judges were also constituted, in which the seven judge bench heard two cases and reserved the verdict in one case and pronounced the verdict in the other.
