The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the National Sports Awards 2023. The President of India will present the award at a specially organized ceremony on 09 January 2024. Based on the recommendations of the committee and after proper investigation, the government has decided to give awards to players, coaches and institutions. Indian team's star fast bowler Mohammed Shami will be given the Arjuna Award. He has performed strongly for some time now. 26 players including Shami will be given Arjun Award. The pair of Satwiksai Raj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be given the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
