Parliament Winter Session 2023: A record-breaking suspension of members was done in the Lok Sabha on Monday on charges of creating ruckus in the House.  Speaker Om Birla has suspended 31 opposition MPs for the entire session.  Congress Parliamentary Party leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary and DMK leader TR Baalu ​​are also among those suspended.  Congress has termed this action of the Speaker as dictatorship.  At the same time, constitutional experts say that there is a rule book for the functioning of the House, if violated, the MPs can be suspended for a day or the entire session.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi demanded suspension of all the creating ruckus MPs from the House for the entire winter session.  On this appeal, Speaker Om Birla suspended 33 opposition MPs including Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary and TR Baalu ​​from the Lok Sabha.  With this new punishment, the number of MPs suspended from Lok Sabha has now increased to 46.  Whereas an opposition MP of Rajya Sabha is also under suspension on charges of ruckus.
