Nationaldesk:
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on student union president Aishi Ghosh.  This action has been taken under the new Chief Proctor Office Manual.  According to the order, Aishi has been fined for forcibly opening the closed door of the student union office on campus in March.  It has been said in the order, this act of Aishi Ghosh is of serious nature and indecent.  She is a student of JNU and strict disciplinary action has been demanded against her.  However, keeping in mind his career prospects, the competent authority has taken a somewhat lenient stance in the matter.
JNU Executive Council has approved the revised Chief Proctor Office (CPO) manual in November.  According to the manual, JNU has banned protests within 100 meters of academic buildings and classrooms.  Those violating the new rules can face expulsion and a fine of up to Rs 20,000.
Apart from this, a fine of up to Rs 10,000 will be imposed for raising anti-national slogans and inciting intolerance towards religion, caste or community.  JNU student union leader Aishi Ghosh raised questions on the manual, saying that the document was passed in the executive committee meeting, there is no student representative in it and there was no discussion in the academic council either.
