Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das has also followed the path of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. Shaktikanta Das has said that he prefers to call himself just Governor instead of 'Honorable Governor'. It is noteworthy that in the BJP parliamentary party meeting held yesterday i.e. on December 7, Prime Minister Modi had requested the BJP leaders to address him only as Modi instead of 'Modi ji' because the public connects him with this name. Chief Justice Chandrachud has also said that he wants to be called 'Sir' instead of being called Your Lordship.
In the press conference after the monetary policy meeting on Friday (December 8), he said that he prefers to be called Governor instead of Honorable Governor. According to a Moneycontrol report, Das said, “I think in future, just calling me Governor would be better than calling me Honorable Governor.” While addressing the RBI chief, the word Governor or Honorable Governor is used.
