National press day: National Press Day is celebrated all over the world on 16 November. And in India, the press is called and considered the fourth pillar of democracy.  With the power of the press, even a big government avoids doing wrong things because they know that if they do any wrong thing then the press will bring their wrong deeds in front of the world, which will affect the image of that government.
There is a Press Council or Media Council in about 50 countries in the world. But in India the press is called 'Watchdog'. Press Day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in the year 1993 after the recommendation of the General Conference of UNESCO in the year 1991.  Was done.
So the Press Council of India was established on 4 July 1966 so that high ideals of journalism could be established in India.  But this council started working formally from 16 November 1966.  Since then every year 16 November is celebrated as 'National Press Day'.
