A Supreme Court judge has expressed unhappiness over lawyers repeatedly addressing him as 'My Lord' and 'Your Lordships' during judicial proceedings.  Justice A.  S.  The bench headed by Bopanna included Justice P.S.  Narasimha asked a senior advocate during the hearing of a routine case on Wednesday, 'How many times will you say 'My Lords'?  If you stop saying this, I will give you half my salary.
Let us tell you, lawyers, during arguments, always address the judges as 'My Lord' or 'Your Lordship'.  Those who oppose this practice often call it a relic of the colonial era and a sign of slavery.
Judge Narasimha asked Waqis, 'Why don't you use 'Sir' instead?'  He said that otherwise he would start counting the number of times the senior advocate uttered the words 'My Lords'.
The Bar Council of India (BCI) had passed a resolution in 2006, in which it was decided that no lawyer would address judges as 'My Lord' and 'Your Lordship', but this could not be followed in practice.
