The court of Qatar has ordered the death penalty for 8 former Indian Navy officers arrested in Qatar on charges of espionage. And Delhi acted immediately after this order came. Delhi is preparing to challenge the court's death sentence order. Qatar court rejects bail plea of 8 arrested ex-officers multiple times. The period of their custody was gradually extended. Finally, on Thursday, the Qatari court ordered the death penalty for 8 people. Naturally Delhi was shocked after hearing this order of the court. Because in which case those 8 people were kept in jail, it is alleged that the administration of Qatar has not made it clear.
After the order of the court, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying, "We are shocked by the order of death sentence. We are waiting for the full transcript of the judgment. We are keeping in touch with the families of the detainees. We are also talking to the lawyers. We are looking into everything." The 8 ex-Navy officers who have been sentenced to death are Captain Navotej Singh Gill, Captain Saurabh Vasishta, Commander Purnendu Tiwari, Captain Birendrakumar Verma, Commander Sugunakar Pakala, Commander Sanjeev Gupta, Commander Amit Nagpal and Seaman Ragesh. Many of them have once led warships.
