The date was June 27, 1976... A plane took off from Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel, for Athens, the capital of Greece. There were 246 passengers and crew members present in the flight. This plane was hijacked by Palestinian terrorists. This plane was taken to Uganda. Israeli intelligence agency and commandos carried out 'Operation Thunderbolt' to save its citizens. Within 7 days of the kidnapping, on July 4, Israeli commandos, going 4000 kilometers away to Uganda, not only eliminated the terrorists, but also destroyed all the Ugandan fighter planes parked at the airport and evacuated its citizens safely.
