The 17 km long primary section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is going to be opened to the public soon.  Women will play an important role in the operation of these modern high-speed, high-frequency RapidX trains.  Participation of women employees in the operation of this section will be more than that of male employees.
NCRTC has taken a strong step towards breaking established gender norms by ensuring equal participation of half the country's population in the transport sector, which has traditionally been considered male-dominated.  Thus, India's first regional railway is not only making strides in the field of technology but is also creating a new picture of modern India through the efforts of women empowerment.  Among the train operators appointed to operate RapidX trains in the primary section, the number of female operators is more than that of male operators.
Apart from this, women are also playing important roles in the form of station control, management, operation and maintenance, operation control center, train attendants etc.  To familiarize them with the urban transport system and provide training, these operators were first given classroom studies for three months as well as other necessary training including running trains on simulators and controlling train speed.  In this training, they were trained about the ETCS Level-2 signaling system, its rolling stock, train control system etc., which is being used for the first time in the world in RRTS system.
