World Mental Health Day 2023: Every year 10 October is celebrated as World Mental Health Day. Its aim is to make people aware on the importance of mental health and provide information about mental illnesses.
Proper care of mental health helps a person to live a happy and prosperous life. Stress is a type of mental health disorder whose risk is seen increasing rapidly. Cases of this disorder are being reported in people of all ages, whether young or old. Health experts say that it is important for all people to take care of their mental health just like their physical health. Both the health are dependent on each other, that is, if you are a victim of mental problems like stress-anxiety, then its effect can affect the physical health also.
World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10 October. Celebrating this day started in the year 1992, when United Nations Deputy Secretary General Richard Hunter and the World Federation for Mental Health took the initiative. It is noteworthy that the World Federation for Mental Health is a global mental health organization with more than 150 member countries.
Later in 1994, Eugene Brodie, the then Secretary General of the United Nations, suggested celebrating this day by determining a theme for Mental Health Day. In the same year, World Mental Health Day was celebrated for the first time with the theme "Improving the quality of mental health services around the world".
