India's veteran Rohan Bopanna's dream of winning the US Open Grand Slam has once again been shattered. Bopanna and his partner Matthew Ebden lost the men's doubles final at New York's Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday, September8. Rajiv Ram of the US and Joe Salsbury of the UK defeated Bopanna-Ebden 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a three-set match to win their third consecutive title. Meanwhile, once again Bopanna missed out on winning his first career men's doubles Grand Slam.
A day earlier, Bopanna had reached the men's doubles final at the age of 43, setting the record for the oldest finalist. On Friday, he had a chance to become the oldest men's doubles Grand Slam winner. After a wait of 13 years, Bopanna was playing the men's doubles final. The final was even more special for him.
