The bout lasted about 1 hour 34 minutes. Earlier, Bopanna's pair had defeated the Americans in the quarterfinals. Bopanna and Ebden defeated Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow 7-6 (10), 6-1.
Bopanna has reached the Grand Slam final after 13 years. They had previously reached the final in 2010. His partner in 2010 was Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan. Bopanna has reached the men's doubles final of a Grand Slam for the second time. Interestingly, Rohan Bopanna became the mixed doubles champion of the French Open in But he has yet to win a Grand Slam men's doubles title. He reached the final at the age of 43 years and 6 months. He is the oldest player to reach a Grand Slam final in the Open era.
