The Assam Sahitya Sabha has expressed its deep condolences over the passing away of prominent poet Rabindra Sarkar, winner of the Sahitya Akademi Award.  In a condolence message, the President of the Assam Sahitya Sabha, Dr. Suryakant Hazarika, paid tribute to the outstanding contribution of Rabindra Sarkar to the Assamese language and literature.
 The 2013 Sahitya Akademi Award winner Rabindra Sarkar's poem 'Dhuliyari Bhorir xas' is a notable work of contemporary Assamese literature.
