The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) held its ninth convocation on Thursday. The convocation was successfully attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Ministers, Ambassadors, Heads of Institutes, and other dignitaries of the institution.
In total, 1,655 graduates were awarded degrees, of whom 14 students were awarded PhD degrees, 669 students were awarded postgraduate degrees and 972 students were awarded bachelor's degrees.
The convocation was presided over by Governor of Meghalaya and USTM Visitor Fagu Chouhan. The convocation was addressed by JNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Sambhishree D Pandit. Among the dignitaries present at the convocation were Meghalaya Arts and Culture and Social Welfare Minister Paul Lingdo, Tezpur University Vice-Chancellor Professor Shambhu Nath Singh, Assam University Vice-Chancellor Professor RM Pant, Nehu Vice-Chancellor Professor Prabha Shankar Shukla and Mizoram University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dibakar Cha Nandra Deka, Central University, Punjab Vice-Chancellor Prof. Baghbendra P. Tiwari, Central Tribal University, Andhra Pradesh Vice-Chancellor Prof. T.V. Professor Indrajit Dubey, Director, NIT, Meghalaya, Professor Pinakeshwar Mohanta, Director, NIT, Meghalaya and USTM Principal Mohbubul Haque and USTM Vice-Chancellor Professor GD Sharma.
