Pragyan Rover has taken the first photo of Vikram Lander landing on the south pole of the moon.  The photo was released by ISRO in a tweet.  ISRO tweeted, “Smile please."  This morning, the Pragyan rover took a picture of the Vikram lander.  This image was taken by the rover's onboard navigation camera (NavCam).
The Navcam for the Chandrayaan-3 mission is developed by the Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS).  The Pragyan rover has these two navcams on one side.  In fact, the total weight of the rover is 26 kg.  It is three feet long, 2.5 feet wide and 2.8 feet high.  Runs on six wheels.
It can go up to 500 meters or 1600 feet to the surface of the moon.  Speeds are 1 centimeter per second.  It will continue to work on the lunar surface for the next 13 days, as long as it is energized by sunlight.  Until then, it will continue to take pictures of the moon's surface and the Vikram lander with the help of its cameras.
