No longer the dog Cheems seen in viral memes, died during surgery, millions of people mourn

Chimes, a 12-year-old Sheeba Inu dog who appeared in several viral memes on social media, died during surgery on Friday.  After Chimes' death, social media was flooded with tributes to the dog.
Chimes was also known as Pup Balltze.  "Chimes died Friday morning during thoracentesis surgery," the dog's owner wrote in a post on Cheams' official Instagram account under the name Pup Baltz.  We wanted to arrange chemotherapy or other treatment for her after this operation, but it was too late.
The owner addressed the social media users and wrote further, “Don’t be sad, remember the happiness that Baltz gave to the world by being part of the memes.  Sheeba Inu with the round smiling face that tickled you and me helped many people during the COVID pandemic and brought a lot of happiness to many of you, but now his mission is accomplished."
