Parliament Monsoon Session 2023 Latest Updates: Delhi Service Bill has now passed the Rajya Sabha after the Lok Sabha.  The Rajya Sabha voted on the issue on Monday with 131 votes in favor and 102 against.  The bill will now be sent to the President for approval.  With his signature and publication in the Gazette, the Bill will become law.  It will also transfer the power of transfer-posting of officials in Delhi to the Lieutenant Governor instead of the elected government.
Introducing a bill in the Rajya Sabha on the issue, Home Minister Amit Shah said the Delhi government was encroaching on the powers conferred by the Centre.  To stop that, we have constitutionally brought this bill (Delhi Service Bill Latest Updates).  He said that Congress had been in government at the Center and BJP in Delhi several times but they had never had the kind of quarrel over transfer-posting as seen in this government.  At that time all decisions were made under one system and it never caused any problem to any CM.
