SIA Probe Begins in Judge Neelkanth Ganjoo Murder Case: Kashmiri Pandits who have been waiting for justice for the last 30 years are now getting hope of justice.  The Center has decided to probe the 1989 ethnic cleansing in response to the demands of Kashmiri Pandits.  The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir has launched an inquiry into the shooting death of retired Jammu and Kashmir judge Nilkanth Ganju, 33 years after he was shot dead.  The agency issued a statement on Monday seeking information from the general public to unravel the larger criminal conspiracy behind the murder.
Retired Judge Neelkanth Ganjoo was brutally murdered in Jammu and Kashmir three decades ago, the agency said in a statement.  The SIA appeals to all persons familiar with the facts or circumstances to come forward to ascertain the larger criminal conspiracy behind this murder.  A spokesperson for the agency urged people involved in the case to share details of incidents that have any link to the case.
Judge Neelkanth Ganjoo was a judge posted in Kashmir Valley.  He had heard a case involving the murder of police officer Amar Chand in the 1960s.  In that case, he sentenced Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat to death.  He was shot dead by terrorists in November 1989.  He was one of the leading Kashmiri Pandits who was targeted by terrorists.
