Noonh violence: VHP-Bajrang Dal rallies not banned, SC directs government

National desk:
The Supreme Court has refused to stay the VHP and Bajrang Dal rallies in Delhi NCR against the Noonh violence.  However, the court has directed the police and states to ensure that there is no inflammatory rhetoric or acts of violence in such places.
The court has asked the Delhi, UP and Haryana governments to abide by the old court orders on hate speech.  The court said the state government could deploy additional police force where necessary.  Video recording of rallies in sensitive areas, CCTV cameras should be installed.  Such video recordings should be secured.
Supreme  court issued the order while hearing a petition seeking a stay on the protests by the VHP and Bajrang Dal over the Noah violence.  Counsel CU Singh appeared on behalf of the petitioner today.  He told the court that VHP and Bajrang Dal have announced marches at 23 places in Delhi NCR.  Since morning, rallies have taken place in some places where provocative rhetoric has been made against particular communities.  Such demonstrations are to be held in sensitive areas in the evening.
"We have also heard the petition some time ago, but there is no doubt that provocative rhetoric spoils the atmosphere," a bench headed by Justice Sanjeev Khanna told the ASG.  We want you to contact the Authority to ensure that the orders issued by the Supreme Court in October 2022 and April 2023 regarding hate speech are implemented.  We hope that the authority will ensure that there is no incident of inflammatory rhetoric against a particular community or damage to public property at any place.  For this, additional police force should be deployed if necessary and video recording of sensitive areas should be conducted.  Video recordings and CCTV footage of such places should be kept secure.
