National desk:
The country is celebrating the 24th Kargil Victory Day today.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Rahul Gandhi paid tributes to the martyrs.  In Dras, Ladakh, four MIG-29 aircraft took off from the Kargil War Memorial in Dras.  "If our armies did not cross the LoC even after winning the war on July 26, 1999, it was because we are peaceful," Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said.  We have faith in Indian values and our commitment to international laws.  If we didn't cross the LoC at that time, it doesn't mean we couldn't cross the LoC.  We could cross the LoC, we can cross the LoC and we will cross the LoC in the future if necessary.  I reiterate my point and I assure the people of this.
Tributes are being paid to the soldiers killed in the 1999 Kargil war.  On this day in 1999, our brave soldiers drove the Pakistani army out of Kargil and hoisted the flag.  However, this victory was not easy.  We got this victory after the martyrdom of 527 soldiers.  The whole of India and everyone living here will always remember his sacrifice.  On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Kargil Victory Day brings to light the story of the heroes of India who will always remain an inspiration to the people of the country.  On this special day, I salute him from the bottom of my heart.  Jai Hind!
On this occasion, he said, “I salute those brave sons who sacrificed everything to protect the motherland.  I salute those brave sons who put the country first and did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for it.”
