Former Sub-Inspector of Police Dhiraj Jyoti Namasudra of Gohpur Police Station has been sacked from his job. Director General of Police GP Singh made the announcement on social media on Sunday evening.
Dhiraj Jyoti Namasudra was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch from inside Gohpur police station on December 8, 2022 for taking bribe from a woman. The victim was identified as Dhiraj Jyoti Namasudra, a Deputy Inspector of Gohpur police station. He was arrested on December 8, 2022 for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an accused in Dhenudhara under Gohpur police station.
The victim was taken to Guwahati after being questioned by the Anti-Corruption Branch inside the Gohpur police station. Dhiraj Jyoti NamaShudra demanded Rs 1 lakh from Priyanka Upadhyay in the name of settling a case.
The victim was identified as Deputy Inspector Dhiraj Jyoti Namasudra, who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch while taking Rs 20,000 as the first installment of Rs 1 lakh. Dhiraj Jyoti Namasudra was suspended from his job after going to jail under IPC 120(B), RW Sec 7(a) and PC Act 1988 (As Amended 2018) under ACB Case No. 56/2022 registered against him.
However, after his release from jail, he was serving as a Deputy Inspector in the District Executive Force in Bishwanath Police District. Dhiraj Jyoti Namasudra was dismissed from his job on Sunday after the case against him was pending in the Anti-Corruption Branch.
