Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarmah announced a plan to plant one crore saplings across the state on the day of Gandhi Jayanti this year, with the aim of increasing the green cover and promoting the economy.
The announcement was made during a gathering commemorating the "Amrit Plantation Programme" in Chandubi, Kamrup on June 8.
In his address, CM Sarmah expressed the state government's commitment to environmental conservation and outlined the incentives for citizens to participate in the initiative.
He stated that individuals planting a sapling would be rewarded with ₹100, and an additional ₹200 would be given if the sapling survived for three years.
