Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the tragic train mishap site in Odisha's Balasore to review the rescue and relief efforts underway on June 3.
He was accompanied by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Dharmendra Pradhan.
Prime Minister Modi said that instructions have been given to ensure proper and speedy investigation of the tragedy, and to take prompt and stringent action against those found guilty.
"Took stock of the situation at the site of the tragedy in Odisha. Words can’t capture my deep sorrow. We stand committed to providing all possible assistance to those affected. I laud all those working round the clock, on the ground and helping out in relief work," tweeted PM Narendra Modi.
